» Bill C-11 house debate day 9

On February 10, 2012 we had the 9th time when the House of Commons debated Bill C-11 (at Second Reading). The previous debate day was February 8, 2012.

This was the last day of debate before the bill is sent to committee at second reading. In some ways we have returned to the same position we were a little less than a year ago when the government fell in March 2011. In other ways it appears that the general public, who will be greatly impacted by this bill, are far more engaged than they were at that time.

An Xtra article by Dale Smith and CBC news wrote about a town hall hosted by Vote Culture at the University of Ottawa on Sep 24.

If the Conservative Party is proud of their divisive diversion of money from Arts to Sport, why are they not speaking about it more often? Has anyone seen this mentioned as part of their platform?

Most of the speakers said what I would have expected them to say, as someone who had been hearing from these organizations for quite some time. Their message at the microphone was consistent with their messages on their websites and other speeches.

It was the politicians that offered something to think about.
